Man Defiles 11-Year-Old Girl Inside Bathroom In Ogun

Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a 20-year-old man, Hammed Lawal, who has allegedly defiled an 11-year-old girl in a local bathroom at Aiyepe Ijebu, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the State capital, said the suspect is currently in police net at the Odogbolu police headquarters.

According to Odutola, the victim’s father reported at Odogbolu division that Lawal, a resident of 5, Aba quarters, “unlawfully had carnal knowledge of his daughter inside his bathroom.”

The parent told the police that the suspect had been “harassing his daughter sexually for a long time, but he did not mention what steps he took to scare the suspect off his daughter.”

Odutola disclosed that the underaged victim had been taken to the Odogbolu General Hospital for medical examination, emotional therapy, and counseling.

“The law of defilement in Nigeria is trite, Section 218 of the Criminal Code Act. The section states that any person who has unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 13 years is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life. This is for the determination of the court. As soon as the investigation is concluded, the suspect, 20-year-old Hammed, who is deemed to know the law by virtue of being above 18yrs, will be charged to Court on the strength of material evidence from forensic examination” Odutola said.
