Alhaji Bashir Ado, Jigawa State’s Special Adviser on Salary and Pensions, has been suspended by Governor Umar Namadi due to an alleged early remark regarding the N70,000 minimum salary.

This is stated in a statement that was issued on Saturday in Dutse by Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

According to Ibrahim, a statement circulating in several media sections claiming that the governor has authorized N70,000 as the new minimum pay for workers in the state was viewed with significant concern by the government.

“This sounds premature and embarrassing, as the government-appointed Committee led by the State Civil Service Head has not yet finished its work or submitted a report,” Ibrahim remarked.

He clarified that in light of the events, the governor had authorized Ado’s immediate suspension, pending the conclusions of a committee chaired by Barr. Bello Abdulkadir, the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice.

The SSG further stated that the committee will look into the true nature of the purported statement, its source, and its motivation. The committee has been given two weeks to present its report.
