Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed that after making a remark against Peter Obi of the Labour Party, he and his family had been receiving death threats.
He claims that Obi’s claim that his remark regarding his New Year’s message was a death threat was what started the threats.
Following his accusation that Obi had “crossed the line” in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Morka’s response to Obi’s New Year’s speech recently provoked outrage.
The APC spokesman claimed to have received more than 200 death threats from alleged Obi supporters during an appearance on Arise News on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
“There have been major repercussions from Peter Obi’s claims that my remarks in that interview threatened his life,” he stated.
Approximately 200 of the 400 threats I have recorded so far are direct threats of death. Law enforcement agencies will receive these written threats from me.
People have described in these messages their plans to hurt me, including threats to shoot me, decapitate me, and do other heinous crimes. This goes beyond rhetoric. Some of my family members have even been the target of direct threats as a result. These are not ambiguous hints; rather, they are overt and clear threats.
Additionally, Morka denied implying anything that would be construed as a threat to Obi’s life, stating that his remark was a straight answer to the query regarding the LP chieftain’s designation as a voodoo economist and doomsday prophet.
“I cannot be held responsible for this whole scenario; it is completely unfounded. In no way did I threaten Peter Obi. Although the people making these threats are operating independently, he expressed confidence that law enforcement will act quickly to apprehend them.
Morka urged the leader of the Labour Party to provide proof of the purported threats on Obi’s life and his family while rejecting his claim of death threats.
