Nigerian Man Was Charged To Court For Killing his Friend In Lagos State

A court sitting in Yaba, Lagos state, has charged a 38-year-old man by the name Raphael Agu at the Ikoyi custodial centre, of Lagos state for reportedly killing his friend, Stanley Ugo to death.

According to the reports, Agu was dragged before the court on a two-count charge of murder.

The persecution team told the court that Rapheal and the departed were arguing after he was held for not sharing the sum of fifteen thousand nairas a developer gave them around the transformer bus stop area in Ogudu.

It was gathered that the developer gave him the money on May 25/2023 and told Agu to share the money with some of the area boys. After Agu had shared the money, the deceased and one other person came back and accused him of not disbursing the money efficiently. This caused a heated argument which generated a fight.

The prosecution team told the court that during the fight, Agu stabbed Ugo in the stomach with a knife.

The prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen told the court that the offence contravened section 222 and he his guilty under section 233 of the criminal laws of Lagos state.

Granting the request, the magistrate, P.E Nwaka ordered the defendant to be remanded in the Ikoyi Custodial Centre and also directed that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP for legal advice.

The case was then adjourned till July 5, 2023.
