On Monday, at about 11:35am at Erin Ijesa, a town in the Oriade Local Government Area a diesel- laden tanker spilled some of its contents and caught fire.
According to an eyewitness:
“Many vehicles are affected here and it has even caused gridlock on the road. The officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps are on the ground, diverting motorists to ply Ipetu Ijesa town to ease the traffic.
“Many people are burnt to death while some sustain severe burns. I don’t know the numbers of those that are affected now. The situation is very terrible.”
Confirming the incident, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, PPRO in Osun State couldn’t ascertain at the time the number of casualties.
