Osun shuts schools indefinitely due to COVID-19

Schools in Osun state have been directed to proceed on Christmas and New Year break starting from Friday December 18. 

The Coordinating Director of Ministry of Education, K. Olaniyan who made the announcement on behalf of the state government, said the decision to shut down both private and public schools was for safety reasons preventing covid-19.

Olaniyan however did not announce any resumption date, but said it will be “communicated as soon as it’s safe to resume”. 

The statement read; 

“The government places a high premium on the safety of our citizens generally and students in particular hence this proactive preventive measure.

“Resumption date will be communicated as soon as it’s safe to resume in the new year.”
