Police Arrest A Clergyman For Allegedly Defiling A 12-Year-Old Girl In Anambra

A pastor has been arrested by operatives of the Anambra state police command for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a twelve-year-old girl in Awka, the state capital.

The accused who is also a Lecturer at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka was said to have been allegedly defiling the minor who had been living with him since Saturday, April 2.

The minor who gave her name as Uju Okafor from Ufuma in Orumba North Local government area of Anambra state said that when she could not bear the pains of r*pe about 9:30pm on Wednesday, jumped down from a two-story building and broke her leg in the process.

The victim who is currently receiving medical attention at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching hospital in Awka said her mother had sent her to a woman who took her to the house of the clergyman last Saturday to help him clean his house since his family members weren’t around.

She stated that on that same day after she had finished doing her chores, she retired to the room provided for her to sleep in, and then the clergyman came in and allegedly started to sexually harass her. Uju alleged that he brought out his manhood and was forcing it inside her body. She said she began to cry as it was quite hurtful.

She said the next day, she experienced the same harassment as the clergyman allegedly tried to force her to suck his manhood. She alleged that when she rejected, he beat her up.  She added that the alleged harassment continued until Wednesday when she couldn’t take it any longer, she jumped out of the house from the window in the toilet and broke her leg.

The Mother of the victim, Chinwe Okafor confirmed her daughter’s account of what transpired and asked that justice must be served.

Confirming the report, the state police public relations officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the suspect is in their custody and the investigation is ongoing.
