This morning, September 6, chaos erupted on University Road leading to the University of Lagos state. Nigerian Police officers used tear gas to disperse students protesting against an increase in their school fees.

Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students had announced plans to protest against the recent hike in tuition fees in the school on September 6.

This morning, the students were unable to gather at the entrance of the school as men of the state police command had taken over the entrance of the school. The students then moved to the beginning of the road leading to the school.

Videos shared online show police officers firing teargas to disperse the students who in turn, ran to safety.
