The National Emergency Management Agency’s South West Zonal Office has shared photos of the building damaged in the Ibadan explosion on January 16.
NEMA said that Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) are responsible for the explosion that rocked Adeyi Estate in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday night, January 16.
The Southwest Zonal Office of the Agency stated that a distress alert for the explosion was received at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Bodija GRA behind Ace Mall Ibadan.
The zonal coordinator said mobilized response agencies were deployed to the scene of the explosion. On arrival at the scene, it was observed by NEMA that it was a suspected explosion of an IED, which affected over 20 houses.
Casualty figures by the agency could not be ascertained. Search and rescue operations were still ongoing.
