Spokesman Criticizes Natasha’s Outburst, Saying The Senate Is Not For Content Production.

Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has come under fire from Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu after a disagreement over her seat assignment in the chamber.

Invoking Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules, which safeguards members’ privileges, Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Peoples Democratic Party representative for Kogi Central, declined to utilize the seat that was allotted to her on Thursday.

The conflict started when opposition members switched to the majority wing, causing Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat to be transferred.

She objected to the move, though.

The senator from Kogi defiantly spoke up, accusing the leadership of trying to keep her quiet.

“I don’t mind if I’m kept quiet. You don’t frighten me. “You have taken away my privilege,” she said.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered security to remove her from the chamber during the session, but other lawmakers intervened to stop the situation from getting worse.

In response to the event, Adaramodu stated that the Senate was not a venue for amusement in an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

We are stating that the National Assembly is not responsible for producing entertainment content. He declared, “The National Assembly is for serious business.”

Adaramodu, who represents Ekiti South, responded to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegation of marginalization by stating that she has previously been named chair of three committees, including NGOs and Foreign Affairs.

“As a novice, she even served as chairperson of three committees before being intimidated or marginalized if she is speaking in such a manner.

The Senate spokesperson stated, “You have the right to lead only one committee, and she is currently in charge of Foreign Affairs and NGOs.”

He mentioned that Senator Isah Jubril, her Kogi colleague, had expressed regret on her behalf when he was questioned about potential disciplinary action.

Adaramodu declared, “We are not going to revisit that since the Senate as a whole has already accepted that tendered apology.”
