“The Ball Will Miss You,” Says Lionel Messi In Honor Of “Phenomenon” Andres Iniesta, Who Ends His Remarkable Career At The Age Of 40

With his fellow World Cup champion, Andres Iniesta, turning 40, Lionel Messi has paid respect to his old Barcelona teammate.

After dominating the top of the game, Iniesta is ending his amazing career.

In addition to winning two European Championships with La Roja, he won a world championship with Spain in 2010 after netting a historic goal in extra time during the championship match against the Netherlands.

After leaving Barcelona’s renowned La Masia program, he made 674 appearances for the club.

At Camp Nou, he won nine La Liga championships and four Champions League titles. In 2018, he departed for the Japanese team Vissel Kobe, and as of late, Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates has been his employer.

In a social media video, Iniesta hinted at his impending retirement while paying homage to his signature shirt number.

Eight times Winner of the Ballon d’Or “One of the team-mates with the most magic and of the ones I enjoyed playing together the most,” said Messi in response to the news in a post of his own.

We, along with the ball, will miss you, Andres Iniesta! I’ll always wish you the best. You truly are extraordinary.

On October 8, Iniesta made his formal retirement announcement at a special goodbye gathering in Barcelona.

As he joined the ranks of former Barcelona players in Major League Soccer, there had been discussion of Iniesta and Messi getting back together at Inter Miami. However, no deal was reached, and he will now focus on coaching.
