“Update” is the next song from Grammy winner Burna Boy’s upcoming eighth album, “No Sign of Weakness.”
‘Back to Life’, a classic song by American group Soul II Soul from 1989, is sampled in the February 19, 2025 song.
After removing every post from his Instagram feed in order to get ready for his next album, Burna Boy hinted at the single previously.
The hitmaker, in usual manner, thumps his chest while raving about his status as a celebrity who is far above his colleagues, all over an African folk drum arrangement on the P2J-produced tune.
Additionally, UAX directed a music video shoot for the tune. Burna Boy imitates a few Fela Anikulapo-inspired dancing steps in the video, which go well with his delivery and reflect the Afrobeat legend’s flair.
The songs “Higher,” which was nominated for Best African Song Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards, and “Bundle By Bundle,” which was released in December 2024, came before the album.
Recently, the hitmaker became the first artist to appear on the cover of Billboard France Magazine, making history. The multi-award-winning artist discussed his role as a key figure and the worldwide success of Nigerian music in the interview.
Burna Boy hopes to build on his incredible commercial success, which has seen all four of his albums receive Grammy nominations, with his next record.
Additionally, he is the first musician from Nigeria to have three albums with more than 500 million Spotify plays.
