Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire on Friday, April 23 at a news conference in Abuja stated that Nigeria needs the sum of N1.89trillion to effectively tackle Malaria.
According to him, the country required more than N350billion to curb the disease in 2021 alone.
He said:
”The Implementation of the new strategic plan will cost N1.89trillion; about N352billion is required for the year 2021 programme implementation”.
Speaking further, he said the Federal Government does not have the exact amount to tackle the disease this year due to the effect of the challenges the coronavirus pandemic caused in the nation and worldwide.
He also revealed that the Federal Government is working tirelessly to set up a Malaria Council that would help provide domestic funding for the termination of the disease.
