According to BFM TV and RMC radio, the humiliating episode occurred during a walkabout with a throng in the Drome region of southeastern France on Tuesday, June 8.
A viral video from BFM TV and RMC shows a man in a green T-shirt, glasses, and a face mask yelling “Down with Macronia” (“A Bas La Macronie”) and slapping Macron in the face.
Macron’s security team rushed in and dragged the man to the ground before escorting Macron away from him.
According to French media, two males have been arrested as a result of the event.
