Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has landed in Milan, Italy, for a round of formal meetings to promote cooperation in agricultural and vocational training.
In a statement issued in Milan on Wednesday, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the minister’s arrival.
The statement claims that Wike left Abuja on Tuesday evening and arrived in Milan at around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed, the Charge d’Affairs of the Nigerian Embassy in Italy, welcomed him.
The FCT minister is expected to meet with Attilio Fontana, the president of the Lombardy Region, on Thursday as part of his tour.
It is anticipated that the summit will examine potential agricultural, vocational education, and strategic partnership collaborations to promote development in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The FCT minister will meet with agribusiness investors and the president of the Lombardy Region on Thursday while in Milan,” Olayinka stated.
With over 10 million residents, Lombardy is the most economically significant region in Italy.
In terms of nominal Gross Domestic Product, it is the second most populous area in the European Union.
Wike and Fontana’s talks will focus on how to improve the FCT’s development agenda by utilizing Lombardy’s sophisticated agriculture methods and vocational training programs.
In order to open up new avenues for collaboration and investment in the FCT, Wike is anticipated to meet with Fontana as well as agro investors and vocational training specialists.
Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the FCT Mandate Secretary for Education, Lawan Geidam, the Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, the Senior Special Assistant on Administration, and Barrister Benedict Daudu, the Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation, are traveling with the minister.
