Following the death of Nollywood actress Pat Ugwu at the age of 35, Nigerian film industry stars have expressed their sorrow.
In his Wednesday Instagram post, Emeka Okoye revealed her passing along with a poster that included information on her burial plans.
“Sis, rest in peace.” Therefore, we don’t get to work again, Pat Ugwu. @patpat_ugwu? Why is death? God willing. PAT, rest in peace. With sorrow, Emeka wrote, “May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
He also expressed his concerns about the current wave of industrial losses, pleading with God to keep all of his coworkers safe, especially those who are close to him. It’s a scary Death, this strange one. This year, in 2025, I declare life to everyone near me in the priceless blood of Jesus. “Amen.”
It was not immediately apparent what caused her death.
A number of Nollywood celebrities also responded to the heartbreaking news, including Rita Edochie, Destiny Etiko, Nkechi Blessing, and Kevin Mike.
In the comment area, Destiny Etiko wrote, “Jesus noooooo.”
Chai, I just woke up this morning to learn about the passing of one of our cast members and crew members, @patpat_ugwu,” Mike posted on Instagram. May you rest in peace, my love.
The burial for Pat, who lost her father in 2021, is scheduled for February 7, 2025.
