The route that connected Saminaka town to five rural communities in Kaduna State’s Lere Local Government Area, including Marjire, was destroyed by flooding.
These settlements are cut off from the regional administration center due to the collapse of a bridge in Saminaka.
Governor Uba Sani has promised that his administration will move right now to improve the situation in the impacted areas. The Governor underlined his dedication to growing the rural economy through his Chief of Staff, Malam Liman Sani Kila, who led the Flood Impact Assessment Committee to Lere LGA.
Malam Sani Kila pledged to supply the impacted areas with relief supplies in addition to rebuilding the damaged road and bridge.
“We have observed the extent of the damage and recognize the urgency of the situation,” he said.
The business activities of five settlements have been badly disrupted and they have been cut off. We reassure Governor Uba Sani that he is dedicated to resolving the citizens’ problems, and our committee will inform him of this progress today.
The chairman of Lere Local Government, Hon. Mathew Bulus Gambo, thanked Governor Uba Sani for forming a strong committee to deal with the matter. He stressed the significance of taking immediate action, pointing out that the bridge collapse has severely hampered economic activity in the impacted communities.
The group also went to other parts of the local government hit by flooding, such as Wawan Rafi Village, where another bridge collapsed, and the Saminaka Township neighborhoods of Nasarawa and Ungwan Shuru.
