On the day the service chiefs marked their 5th Anniversary in office, which was July 13th, 2020 Boko Haram attacked 333 Artillery Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State.
At about 11:20pm the barracks which is said to be a short distance from the Nigerian Air Force base was attacked after some parts of the town had also been attacked.
Military sources confirmed the attack and said soldiers responded but they had already surrounded the barracks.
A Maiduguri resident said:
” We are under serious attack in this city. Sounds of gunshot and bombs from different locations. I cant tell precisely where this is from but the sounds are clear.”
