In a viral video on his own YouTube account, well-known gospel singer Paul Nwokocha finally addressed the circulating rumors about his marital problems.
Nwokocha stated that he has no remorse about divorcing his wife, allocating his choice to her alleged “abominable acts.”
He declared in the video, which was uploaded on Sunday, “I will send you out of my house if I marry today and discover that the wife I married is doing an abominable thing before God and before man.”
The gospel singer continued by making startling disclosures regarding the alleged behavior of his split wife, alleging that she had been sending naked pictures and films to other men.
He asked those who questioned his decision to break up with her how they would respond if they experienced a similar betrayal.
“I didn’t marry a whore; I married a wife. Therefore, I owe no one an apology for this,” he declared firmly.
Since then, the video has caused a social media firestorm, with opinions on his public tantrum and intimate disclosures dividing netizens.
Some people agree with his strong moral position, while others doubt the propriety of discussing such personal issues in public.
Nwokocha’s most recent marital troubles, meanwhile, come after a string of contentious splits.
His second marriage has now terminated after only two years, according to ABNTV on Monday, with the bride’s family formally returning the bride price, which is a customary symbol of a union’s dissolution.
The problems in Nwokocha’s marriage
Just one month after divorcing his first wife, Alice Nwokocha, Nwokocha wed his second wife, Goodness Nwokocha, in September 2023.
According to reports, he separated from Alice because of what he called “maltreatment,” which included her allegedly refusing to feed him.
In contrast to the traditional “for better, for worse” promise, the musician has previously stated that he believes marriage should be “for better, for better.”
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a family source said that Goodness and Nwokocha had a troubled marriage from the beginning. According to ABNTV earlier on Saturday, she allegedly suffered abuse in her new home, where she was treated more like a housemaid than a wife.
The insider also disclosed that Goodness and Nwokocha had never been romantically involved before they were married. Without doing any background checks, she had moved from Lagos to be with him at his uncles’ persuasion.
Tensions had increased by May 2024, and their marriage was formally dissolved with the return of the bride money.
