The Adamawa State Police Command apprehended an 18-year-old suspect, while she was negotiating the sale of a four-year-old boy she kidnapped.
According to the reports, John, an applicant from Unguwan Cashew on Michika General Hospital Road, confessed that she abducted the boy from Michika with the intent of selling him in Mubi and using the proceeds to purchase a car and a house.
It was gathered that she explained how she committed the crime, saying she lured the boy from her Michika neighborhood and took him to Anguwan Kara in Mubi to meet a potential buyer.
After making several unsuccessful phone calls to the prospective buyer’s phone numbers, the suspect decided to speak with someone in the neighborhood about the location of the prospective buyer but inadvertently revealed that she had brought the boy to him to buy.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Nguroje, the man then provided the police with information that led to the suspect’s arrest.
Nguroje, who stated that the adolescent confessed to the crime, advised parents to monitor their children and the company they keep.
“She got in touch with a kidnapper during her recent visit to Mubi,” he explained, “when a friend told her she could make money by supplying children to ritualists.”
“She kidnapped her neighbor’s son in her desperation for material wealth in order to raise funds to buy a car and live a lavish lifestyle.”
