After an unidentified female student attacked and bit a lecturer during a furious argument, there was mayhem at Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s Faculty of Arts in Awka.
The student was making a dance video in the faculty corridor when the professor, Dr. Chukwudi Michael, interrupted her. This led to a disagreement and the incident, which took place on campus.
Witnesses reported that when Michael tried to walk by, the student was dancing while being filmed.
As he went by behind her, the lecturer tapped her shoulder and whispered, “Pardon me. But, according to an eyewitness, she became clearly distressed and cried out, “Can you imagine how he just hit me?”
As bystanders attempted to step in, the student violently grabbed the lecturer’s clothing as the argument swiftly turned into a physical altercation.
On Tuesday, a video of the event went viral on social media, showing the student yelling at the lecturer and claiming to have been struck.
In a another video, the student was gripping the lecturer tightly as he raised his hands in what appeared to be constraint.
Ken Chukwurah, the Chief Security Officer of UNIZIK, verified the development when contacted, adding that the university was looking into the situation internally.
Yes, such an occurrence did occur. Investigations are still underway, and after we finish our findings, the school will express its stance,” Chukwurah stated.
He clarified that after passing by, Michael said he heard the student insulting him and went back to find out if she was one of his students.
Because he thought she was filming a TikTok video and didn’t want to be in it, he allegedly reached for her phone. She allegedly bit him on both arms in retaliation for his request to have the video removed,” he continued.
The lecturer’s arms had obvious bite marks, according to pictures that are making the rounds online.
According to additional sources, the girl in question is a history and international studies 300-level student who is the daughter of an engineering department faculty at the institution.
