Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, has caused controversy in the football community by saying that Lionel Messi is more naturally gifted than Cristiano Ronaldo.
In an appearance with the Spanish television show El Hormiguero on Wednesday, Rodri, who is recuperating from knee surgery, made the claim.
The Spaniard gave a scathing assessment of Ronaldo’s skills while firmly supporting Messi in the argument over who is the greatest player of all time.
“Lionel Messi is without a doubt the greatest player of all time,” he declared.
Despite lacking natural talent, Cristiano has been able to rival Messi. However, we who have faced them can tell the difference.
The midfielder emphasized that Messi was a much more constant threat on the field as he discussed the different difficulties of playing against the two football greats.
We didn’t want Cristiano to enter the box because he was deadly there, he stated.
“But Messi made the field dangerous everywhere.”
Many supporters have taken issue with the Spaniard’s words, which many have seen as a rejection of Ronaldo’s innate skills.
Rodri also took use of the opportunity to consider how he defeated Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid to win the prized Ballon d’Or last month.
“I had no optimism going to the gala because there was a rumor three weeks prior that Vinicius was going to win,” Rodri recalled.
“But a lot of people started congratulating me before I even got to Paris. My father suggested that I prepare something just in case, even though I didn’t have a planned speech.”
