Claims Of Defamation: Helen Ukpabio, A Well-Known Pastor, Threatens Bloody Civilian With A N200 Billion Lawsuit

In a threat to sue artist Emoseh Khamofu, better known by his stage name Bloody Civilian, for alleged defamation, Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries President and Founder Helen Ukpabio has demanded N200 billion in damages.

On Saturday, November 23, 2025, Bloody Civilian shared a letter dated November 25, 2024, that made this claim.

The letter, titled “Demand for Public Apology and Compensation for the Libel of Imaobong Elijah Ukpabio and Apostle Helen Ukpabio,” was sent by the pastor, who was born in Akwa Ibom, via her attorney, Victor Ukutt and Co. Legal Practitioners.

An X (formerly Twitter) user going by the handle #OneJoblessBoy shared the pastor’s picture on Friday along with the statement, “Pastor Helen Ukpabio turns 60 today,” sparking the debate. With 4.6 million views and a flurry of responses, the tweet attracted a lot of attention.

Later, Bloody Civilian claimed in a retweet that “she literally made people burn their children alive.”

Imaobong Ukpabio, the pastor’s daughter, responded to this comment by tweeting under the name #ima_Elijah and threatening to take legal action against Bloody Civilian unless they remove the post within five hours.

“You have the next five hours to remove this, or I’ll teach you in court!” Imaobong issued a warning.

The firm’s general counsel, Victor Ukutt, signed the letter, which called Bloody Civilian’s tweets “reckless, satanic, and libellous.”

The singer was accused by the firm of aiming to “ridicule” their clients, claiming that the accusations were “grossly false and devoid of any iota of truth.”

Part of the letter said: “Your careless, demonic, and defamatory postings on X (previously Twitter), one of the biggest social media sites in the world, have caught the attention of our clients. On November 22, 2024, using your verified account #bloody__civ, you wrote, among other things, “She literally made people burn their children alive” and “See, she’s gotten banned from the UK for her atrocities.”

According to the letter, Bloody Civilian suggested that Helen Ukpabio is unsuitable to live in a respectable society, encourages the slaughter of children who have been labeled witches, and utilizes her teachings to support exorcism, which results in child abuse, abandonment, and death.

The attorney contended that the pastor’s reputation had been badly harmed by the charges, and that the claims had been refuted by investigations conducted by the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Security Services, which deemed them to be “grossly false.”

The letter also called for the artist to issue a written apology, which would be shared on her social media accounts and in national and international media outlets.

Please be advised that we are requesting from you two hundred billion naira (N200,000,000,000) in damages for the misery, trauma, grief, and distress our clients have had as a result of this vile and libellous publication. Within a week of receiving this letter, the money must be sent to our chambers,” the letter said.
