Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resume continuous Voter Registration (CVR) until 90 days before the 2023 general elections.
According to the reports, the court gave the order while delivering judgment in a suit filed by oneĀ Anajat Salmat and three others against INEC.
The plaintiffs argued that INEC cannot stop the CVR contrary to the stipulated provisions of the constitution.
In a judgment delivered today November 22, by Justice Inyang Ekwo directed INEC to ensure that eligible Nigerians are not deprived of the opportunity to have the voterās card for the forthcoming poll.
According to the judge, it was the constitutional responsibility of the electoral umpire to make adequate provisions for the exercise in accordance with Nigerian laws.
āThe case of the plaintiffs succeeds on merit.” the judge said.
