Music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, better known online as Don Jazzy, is the anonymous source of the ₦100 million donation to his recently formed non-governmental organization, according to social media personality VeryDarkMan.
VeryDarkMan first expressed concerns in a video on his Instagram account, challenging the sizeable contribution and asking Zenith Bank to look into it. He later stated that the NGO would concentrate on community development and enhancing public schools.
“@zenithbankplc, look at my NGO account. I hope I’m not being set up because I have no idea what’s going on. For the record, I do not engage in money laundering or fraud. “Believe me, Nigerians, I have no idea what’s going on with the account,” he wrote.
However, VeryDarkMan acknowledged in a new video posted on Thursday that Don Jazzy had contacted him to let him know that he had donated to the cause.
“Guys, I posted yesterday that I received ₦100m in my account,” he stated. There was no warning sent to me. I recently noticed that the amount has gone up from ₦70m to ₦170m+.
“People had been sending me ₦50, ₦100, ₦200, ₦500, and so on, so it’s understandable for me to panic because I didn’t expect anybody to just send me ₦100m like that. I thought it was a glitch or maybe someone wanted to set me up.”
He ultimately got a message from Don Jazzy after reaching out to everyone he knew to see who might have sent the money.
“Good morning, bro,” the message said. I just came across your post. I’ll send ₦100m to help. I trust you to be as open and honest as you have always been, and I believe in what you are doing. That is exactly what our nation needs. I hope the project goes well for you and that you continue to be blessed. It’s not simple.
Don Jazzy started trending on the X platform after the news, with many internet users praising his kindness and praying for the music producer.
Additionally, VeryDarkMan reaffirmed his dedication to openness by pledging to keep sharing information about the money raised.
Five days after its launch, he revealed, the NGO had already collected ₦179 million.
