“Don’t Multiply Poor People’s Pain” – Peter Obi Condemns Demolition Of Houses In Lagos

With an ongoing wave of building demolitions in Lagos State, as well as other parts of the country, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, is urging governments at all levels to show compassion and avoid adding to the suffering of the poor.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the former governor of Anambra State appealed to state and federal governments to show empathy as Nigerians are already facing numerous economic challenges.

For weeks, demolition of buildings resumed in Lagos, with the state government and the Federal Housing Authority pulling down structures in Ikota, Lekki, Alaba, Ajao Estate, Abule Ado, Ladipo Market, and other areas of the state.
