England-born striker, Antoine Semenyo has finally agreed to play for Black Stars of Ghana ahead of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in March
Semenyo could choose to represent the Three Lions of England but has now given his consent to play for the four-time Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, champions after persuasion from the GFA.
The 22-year-old, who currently plays his club football at Bristol City, was born in London to Ghanaian parents.
Semenyo, who has been courted by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a long time, has accepted to represent the country’s national team.
Semonyo could be part of the Black Stars squad when they face the Super Eagles on March 23 and 29, respectively.
Ghana aims at making a fourth appearance at the FIFA World Cup after three successive appearances between 2006 and 2014.
They missed out on the last edition (2018 FIFA World Cup) in Russia, where France’s national team won it after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
He has scored five goals and provided six assists in 17 matches for Bristol City this season.
