Conor Gallagher, the former master of Chelsea midfield, has revealed his reasons for leaving the team.
In a message posted on Friday on Fabrizio Romano’s X Twitter, Gallagher claimed that the primary cause of his departure from Chelsea was the team’s new philosophy of signing players to long contracts.
“Why did Chelsea sell me? Clubs have the autonomy to make choices, and they have signed long-term contracts with some of the best players.
“That wasn’t my situation, but everyone is happy because what happened is good for everyone in the end,” he told Daily Mail.
Remember that earlier in the summer transfer window, the London team sold Gallagher to Athletico Madrid for a price exceeding thirty-three million pounds?
Gallagher, who has played a few games for Atleti, is presently training with Lee Carsley’s England team ahead of their UEFA Nations League match against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.
Prior to the match, the midfield player responded angrily to the notion that Maresca’s system was not technical enough for him to excel in.
“In my opinion, that isn’t accurate. I had a successful season with Chelsea last year, as seen by Pochettino starting me in every game and demonstrating his faith in me.
“And what I did on the field was appreciated by the fans.” I’m incredibly appreciative of everything that has happened, as well as the supporters and Pochettino for providing me with the opportunity to express myself and present the best version of me at Chelsea. Gallagher informed the press.
