As part of the government’s efforts to eliminate ghost workers, federal civil servants have been given until February 17, 2025, to verify their identities.
Our correspondent saw a memo from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation on Saturday that contained this information.
Amid the planned suspension of wages and other penalties for ghost workers, civil servants are urged to authenticate themselves on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System portal.
In order to meet the deadline, our correspondent learned that federal personnel had hurried to create their Taxpayers Identification Number.
Along with the IPPIS number and payroll account number, the TIN is one of the requirements for verification.
“In accordance with the Treasury Circular with Ref. No. TRY/A6&B6/2024-OAGF/CAD/026/Vol. V/910 dated June 27, 2024, on the aforementioned subject matter and subsequent extension dated August 16, 2024, I am directed to inform you that AGF has approved the extension of the OAF-IPPIS Payroll Validation Portal for an additional one week (10 – 17″ February, 2025),” the memo stated.
Employees who were unable to finish their validation by the previous deadline will be able to use the portal once it is implemented. Go to www.oagf.gov.ng, the OAF website, to access the portal.
It is emphasized that all employees involved must complete updating their payroll information by 12 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the latest. Please be aware that officers who do not take advantage of this final chance may face repercussions, including termination from their position.
“Directors/Head of Finance & Account, Accounting Officers, and Internal Audit Units of MDAs and other Arms of Government are enjoined to ensure compliance and give this circular the broadest circulation it deserves.”
President Bola Tinubu ordered in 2024 that all federal officials who received Federal Government salary after moving overseas be had to reimburse the money.
The President also ordered the department heads and supervisors of the offenders to face consequences for their complicity in the fraud while they were in charge.
