In the case against the erstwhile Marvel star who was once on the rise but is now embroiled in controversy, a settlement was reached.
After reaching a settlement, Jonathan Majors’ former companion has withdrawn her lawsuit against the once-rising Hollywood star for defamation and assault.
A joint filing in Manhattan federal court on Thursday indicated that the attorneys for Majors and Grace Jabbari had reached an agreement to dismiss the case with prejudice.
On Friday, Jabbari’s attorney announced that the lawsuit had been “favorably resolved,” but he declined to provide further details.
In a statement, attorney Brittany Henderson stated, “Grace Jabbari has demonstrated extraordinary courage throughout this protracted and challenging process.” “We aspire to the day when she can finally put this chapter behind her and continue to walk with her head held high.”
Majors representatives did not respond to emails requesting comment on Friday.
Jabbari, in her March lawsuit, accused the 35-year-old Marvel and Creed III star of subjecting her to escalating incidents of physical and verbal abuse during their relationship. According to Jabbari, these incidents included assault, battery, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.
After Majors was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment in connection with an altercation in Manhattan, the British dancer filed the suit months later.
Jabbari claimed that Majors struck her head with his open hand, twisted her arm behind her back, and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured during an argument that commenced in the back seat of a chauffeured vehicle and escalated into the streets.
Majors asserted that Jabbari was the aggressor and had been driven to a jealous fury, and that he was merely attempting to retrieve his phone and escape in a safe manner.
In April, a judge ordered Majors to complete a year-long counseling program, despite the fact that he evaded prison time.
Immediately following the guilty verdict, Marvel Studios terminated Majors’ contract. He had been cast as Kang the Conqueror, the primary antagonist of the entertainment empire’s films and television programs for years to come.
Majors and Jabbari had encountered each other in 2021 on the set of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors portrayed Kang, while Jabbari served as a movement coach.
In recent weeks, Majors has gradually reemerged on the Hollywood scene. Magazine Dreams, his previously shelved film, was acquired for theatrical release last month.
The bodybuilder drama achieved early Oscar chatter for Majors; however, its distributors discontinued it subsequent to his conviction in December of last year. Then, at the Ebony Power 100 Gala in Los Angeles earlier this month, Majors and her fellow actor, Meagan Good, disclosed their engagement.
