Things to be aware about
According to the authorities, severe flooding in northeastern Nigeria has killed at least thirty people and damaged over a million more.
Heavy rains in Borno State forced the Alau dam on the Ngadda River to collapse, causing the worst flooding the state has seen since the dam fell thirty years prior and forcing inhabitants to escape their homes.
In addition, this disaster caused a state-owned zoo to be completely destroyed and brought snakes and crocodiles into inundated areas.
The Gomboru drug market in Maiduguri has been ordered to close immediately by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) due to flooding that compromised medications that were sun-dried and prepared for resale.
