The appointment of Justice Williams Akintoroye as the new Chief Judge of the State has been approved by the Ondo House of Assembly.
Recall that sometime last month, State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had sworn in Justice Williams Akintoroye as the acting Chief Judge of the State.
Justice Akintoroye’s appointment followed the retirement of the former Chief Judge, Justice Olutoyin Akeredolu, after attaining the statutory retirement age of 65 years.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, confirming the appointment said;
“The appointment of someone as a Chief Judge of a High Court demands a lot of sacrifice while that of a Chief Judge of a state demands more responsibility.
“The appointment of Justice Akintoroye as the CJ did not come to us in the Assembly as a surprise; hence, it is a welcome development.”
“Akintoroye is a meticulous man who has worked so much for the development of Ondo State, and it is our hope that he will lead the state judiciary to a greater height.
“We are appealing to him to use his term as CJ to bring more honour to the state.”
