VIDEO: Shots Fired As EFCC Agents Try To Apprehend Yahaya Bello

Bello was listed as wanted by the EFCC due to alleged financial crimes totaling N80.2 billion.

When agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) tried to apprehend former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello at his lodge in the Asokoro District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Wednesday night, gunshots rang out through the air.

The governor’s lodge security personnel’s resistance quickly resulted in a confrontation with armed anti-graft agency officials.

Ahmed Ododo, the current governor of Kogi, is said to have swept his predecessor out of the race.

The Ex-Governor Bello is still wanted “for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges,” according to the EFCC, which stated earlier on Wednesday that Bello is not in its custody. The former governor was present in the EFCC office with Ododo, according to Bello’s media office, but he was not questioned.

The EFCC broke into Bello’s home in the Wuse neighborhood of Abuja and made an attempt to detain the outgoing governor, who the Commission subsequently said had been driven off by Usman Ododo, his replacement.

Despite numerous adjournments, the former governor has not appeared before the trial judge in the matter that has been in court.
