The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced today that the clinical trials of the potential treatment of the COVID-19 virus has been temporarily suspended for safety reasons
The health body came to the decision after a publication was released last week from a study in the Lancet. The study indicated that the use of hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19 can increase the likelihood of death of patients.
Tedros Adhanom, the WHO Chief, announced this during a virtual conference, adding that the trials had been suspended while the safety of the treatment is reviewed
