The Federal High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, restraining the Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from conducting its ward congress has drawn many reactions across the state.
According to some of the APC members who spoke us said, the court order helped in preventing a political crisis that would have occurred during the congress.
A public commentator, Alhaji Ahmed Bakare, said the truth remained that since Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle defected to the APC, there have been cracks on the wall of the party in the state.
He said that former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa are leading one faction while Governor Matawalle has his own faction, saying that the two factions are at war over who controls the soul of the party in the state.
Alhaji Bakare noted that Yari did not acknowledge the state caretaker committee inaugurated by the national headquarters of the party.
“Even if the ward congress was allowed to be held in Zamfara State, it would have been a showdown for political supremacy between Governor Matawalle and former Governor Yari,” he said.
